Greek Yogurt And All Its Amazing Uses!

I am addicted to Greek Yogurt right now. I seriously could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love that its full of protein and probiotics but still low in calories, fat and carbs. I mean, what more could you ask for!

I have been using it as a substitute in so many foods and thought I would share some of the great ideas I have come across.
  • Sour Cream - Use the plain version instead of sour cream. I have used it in recipes and just as a topping like on tacos. I did spoon it into a bowl for the tacos so my family wouldn't know the difference. Guess what? They had no clue. Seriously, its that close.
  • Dressing Base - I LOVE ranch dressing. And my kids will only eat raw veggies dipped in it. But with the fat and calories of dressings it makes it almost not worth the effort. So, I found a recipe while pinning for ranch dressing. It is delicious, healthier, and my kids dip away not even knowing its not real ranch. Just use 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix and substitute plain Greek yogurt for mayo according to the package directions.

  • Fruit Dip - Again, my kids love to dip. And they love fruit. And again Pinterest never lets me down. :-)
Use 1 small container of vanilla Greek yogurt. Add 2 Tbsp of Peanut Butter, 1/2 Tbsp of Honey, and an 1/8 Tsp Cinnamon. I went ahead and doubled the recipe because I knew this would be a hit. And boy was I right. We've been through a 5 lb bag of apples in three days. But hey, its better than them constantly snacking on chips!

  • Honey Mustard - I ran across the fabulous Iowa Girl Eats blog. She has some amazing recipes but my personal favorite is the Chick-Fil-A Chicken bites. This has become a weekly staple in our meal plan lately. My kids love them, my hubby loves them and no matter how many I make, they are always gone! The honey mustard dipping sauce is made with.... wait for it.... Greek yogurt! It is AMAZING and now my fridge is never without it. I use it on chicken while grilling, as salad dressing, or just to dip pretzels in. I'm pretty convinced its even better than the original Chick-Fil-A sauce and THAT'S saying a lot. :-)

Some other recipes I'm dying to try:
